Bigger Kitchen- Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.
1/8
The kitchen in this estate house was originally designed
for a kitchen staff. It had lots of small storage closets,
narrow hallways to the dining room and library and very
little natural light. The new kitchen works for today's owners, a family of four who cook for themselves. The kitchen opens to a light filled seating area and the previous storage room is a play room off the kitchen.
While the photographs clearly show the orange pilasters at the cabinets, they don't pick up the orange flex throughout the Bird's Eye Maple cabinet doors that underlies the color scheme.
The original porcelain double basin sink with washboards is preserved. The Soapstone countertops recall the era of the original house.
